The TREM-26 monoclonal antibody specifically binds to TREM-1 (triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells 1, or triggering receptor expressed on monocytes 1). TREM-1 is also known as CD354. TREM-1 is a 30 kDa type I transmembrane glycoprotein that belongs to the immunoglobulin superfamily. TREM-1 is highly expressed by neutrophils and monocytes, and there are reports of lower-level TREM-1 expression by a variety of cells including subsets of T and B cells, NK cells, and dendritic cells. Its expression is up-regulated on leucocytes in response to LPS, which can be triggered by microbial infections or sepsis. CD354 activation leads to the release of proinflammatory cytokines and chemokines.
