CD27, also known as S152 and T14, is a type 1 membrane protein. It binds to CD70 and plays a key role in regulating B cell activation and immunoglobulin synthesis. The cytoplasmic domains of CD27 have also been shown to interact with TRAF2 and TRAF5 to elicit NF-κB and SAPK/JNK activation. It is expressed on a subset of thymocytes, NK cells, some B cells and virtually all mature T cells, and it is upregulated upon T cell activation.
