CD62L, also known as L-selectin, Ly-22, LAM-1, LECAM-1, or MEL-14, is a surface glycoprotein and member of the selectin family. CD62L is involved in immune cell homing and is expressed on a variety of cell types, including naive T cells, most B cells, most thymocytes, and subsets of memory T cells, NK cells, monocytes, and granulocytes. CD62L promotes lymphocyte trafficking to peripheral lymph nodes, rolling along activated blood vessel walls, and neutrophil transmigration. CD62L is shed rapidly from lymphocytes and neutrophils upon activation. CD62L expression can be dramatically reduced upon cryopreservation.
