CD272, also known as B and T lymphocyte attenuator (BTLA), is expressed on B cells, T cells, macrophages, dendritic cells, NKT cells, and NK cells. CD272 is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein with structural and functional similarity to cytotoxic T lymphocyte-associated antigen 4 (CTLA-4) and programmed death 1 (PD-1). It is implicated as a lymphocyte inhibitory receptor that inhibits lymphocytes during immune response.
