RORγ (retinoid-related orphan receptor gamma) is a member of the nuclear hormone receptor family, NR1 subfamily. RORγ has 2 isoforms: γ1 and γ2 (also referred to as RORγt). The RORγt differs from RORγ1 isoform by lacking 3 unique amino acids at the amino terminus. Therefore, the B2D antibody will react with both the RORγ and RORγt isoforms. RORγt is expressed exclusively in only 2 cell populations, DP thymocytes and lymphoid tissue inducers (LTi). RORγt is essential for lymph nodes and Peyer's patches development and plays a critical role in control of apoptosis during thymopoiesis and T cell homeostasis.
