The 5F4 monoclonal antibody reacts with 4-1BB ligand (4-1BBL), also known as CD137 ligand. CD137 ligand (CDw137L) is a type II transmembrane protein and a member of the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) superfamily. CD137 ligand is expressed by activated antigen-presenting cells including B cells and macrophages. Studies have demonstrated that CD137 ligand acts as a co-stimulatory molecule without engaging other co-stimulatory molecules such as CD28.
