The K8 monoclonal antibody specifically binds to sialic acid-binding Ig-like lectin 9 (Siglec-9), also known as CD329. Siglecs are a family of I-type lectin cell surface receptors belonging to the immunoglobulin superfamily that recognize sugar antigens. Siglec-9 is expressed on peripheral blood monocytes, granulocytes, and NK cells. Siglec-9 plays a role in negative regulation of T cell activation and is also thought to stimulate apoptosis in neutrophils.
