The TL2.1 monoclonal antibody specifically binds to CD282, also known as Toll-like receptor 2 (TLR2). Toll-like receptors are type I transmembrane signaling receptors that mediate microbial resistance in innate immune reactions. CD282 mediates the innate immune system's response to lipoproteins of gram-negative bacteria and gram-positive bacteria. There is also evidence that CD282 can function as a receptor for peptidoglycan and lipoteichoic acid.
