CD2, also known as LFA-2, T11 and sheep red blood cell receptor (SRBC-R), is a type 1 transmembrane glycoprotein. The principal ligand for human CD2 is leukocyte function-associated antigen 3 (LFA-3, also known as CD58). It has been reported to bind CD48, CD59, and CD15. CD2 plays a role in intercellular adhesion, signal transduction, and alternative T cell activation. It is expressed on thymocytes, T lymphocytes, NK cells, and thymic B cell subsets.
