The human leukocyte antigen (HLA) system is the name of the locus of genes that encode for the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) in humans. The W6-32 monoclonal antibody reacts with MHC class I loci including HLA-A, -B and -C. MHC class I, in association with beta 2-microglobulin, is expressed by all human nucleated cells, and plays a central role in antigen presentation, and therefore the cell-mediated immune response.
